Are you struggling with one of life’s difficult challenges? Asheville area counselor Mark Neville, MDiv, specializes in helping you heal and make your way to a better place. His methods of counseling focus on YOU – a whole person – not just your symptoms.
Mark specializes in grief counseling, marriage counseling, divorce recovery, caregiver support, help with depression and anxiety, finding yourself and your life’s purpose, career counseling, and spiritual counseling.
“My clients want and need to get to a better place in their lives. By the time they meet with me, they’re often exhausted and in pain. Their own efforts have not gotten them there. Neither have the efforts of their family members, friends, and co-workers. Sometimes the professionals they’ve seen haven’t helped them either. Meeting with me is their next attempt to get to a better place in their life.”
“Their pain is total. They feel it in their aching bodies, unclear minds, disturbed spirits, and troubled relationships. They bring to our meeting their unique stories, pain, and attempts to get through the difficulty they’re struggling with.”
Mark says, “I provide for my clients—
One of Mark’s main areas of focus is grief counseling. He says grief is a broader issue than many realize. “Actually, grief is a dimension of every difficult challenge we face in life because difficult challenges involve losses.
In addition to grieving the death of a loved one, we grieve the loss of—
“Since my master’s degree is in Divinity, I also help clients through crises of faith."
Mark calls his method Life Therapy. He says, “I created it out of my education, training, personal life experiences, and over 30 years of professional experience. Life Therapy is unique in several ways:
“It’s not medication therapy, psychotherapy, or mental/behavioral health counseling. Neither is it coaching, mentoring, or consulting."
“Together my clients and I attend to and take care of their lives. Since there is so much more to their lives than their problems, we view their problems in the broader context of their life: where they’ve been, where they are now, and where they want to go."
“First, we attend to their healing. By healing, I mean becoming whole and integrated. Even when they’re living with an illness or injury, they can be whole and have a sense of well-being. When they are ready, we clarify where they want to go in their lives and how to get there. Then, I help them get there."
Mark shares, “A couple came to me after their daughter died in a tragic accident. She was in her early twenties, bright, doing very well in college, and already succeeding in a career. They had been to two other counselors but had not received the help they needed."
“They were desperate and wanted a quick solution to their grief. There is no quick solution to grief, especially in response to the death of a child. I started by giving them basic, helpful information about grief. They ended our first session saying that they had received more help in our hour together than all of the other hours they spent with others."
“I met with them for over two years. Not only did they make their way through the complicated grief for their daughter, they made their way through winning a drawn-out law suit concerning their daughter’s death, adapting as a family, establishing a foundation in her honor, helping young people through the foundation, sending their son off into the world as a young adult, moving to a new house, taking on several additional professional responsibilities, and too many other things to tell here."
“Understand this: they are not “over” the death of their daughter. They never will be. They still grieve for her and always will. However, they have made their way to a better place in life than they were in when they first saw me.”
Mark has this bit of advice for prospective clients: “The one thing I’d say is this: sooner is better than later. You’ve suffered too long already. Why wait any longer? If I can’t help, I’ll find someone who can.”
Mark sees clients both in person and online through WeCounsel.com. “I see clients in my offices in Hendersonville and Asheville. I’m one of the few therapists who also makes house and/or office calls. Seeing online clients makes me available to out-of-town members of families I’m caring for as well as clients throughout the US.”
If you have grief issues or find something is holding you back from the life you richly deserve, don’t wait. Call Mark Neville today and let him help you discover ways to break free and find your true potential.
